Windows 10 offers a wide range of customization options, including the ability to change the taskbar color, size, and contrast. However, finding all the settings in a relatively new Windows version can be challenging.

How to Change the Windows 10 Taskbar Color

But don’t worry. We’re here to help.

In this article, we provide a step-by-step guide to changing the Windows 10 taskbar color, size, and contrast. Plus, we’ll list the most common mistakes that occur when customizing the Windows 10 taskbar.

To customize the Windows 10 taskbar color, follow the easy steps below.

change tasks bar color

Windows 10 offers “Light”, “Dark” and “Custom” color modes. “Light” mode is basically a standard theme and is best suited for bright spaces, setting a white color for the start button, taskbar, action center, and most apps. “Dark” does the job in darker settings, making buttons and apps black/dark grey. The “Custom” option provides a combination of any wallpaper and accent color. The “Light” mode does not support the taskbar color change – any chosen color will appear grey.

Select the accent color.

Accent color applies to the “Start” button, taskbar, action center, title bars, and window borders.

There are four options to select it manually. Choose color among suggested by clicking under “Recent colors” or “Windows colors”. To set a different color, click “Custom color”.

Clicking “Automatically pick an accent color from my background” allows Windows to select a suitable color based on your wallpaper.

Select surfaces to show the accent color on.

Select “Show accent color on the following surfaces” and tick one of the following or both – “Start, taskbar, and action center” or “Title bars and window borders”.

How to Change the Windows 10 Taskbar Color Without Activation

Personalizing Windows 10 without activation is slightly more complicated, but possible through the Registry Editor. Below is a guide on how to make Windows 10 select the accent color automatically to complement the background. To set a background image, simply right-click on any image from your files and select “Set as a background”. Then, follow these steps:

Other Customization Options

Windows is an incredibly versatile OS so there are a lot of things you can do with your Windows 10 Taskbar. Let’s review a few more to perfect your machine’s interface.

Resize Your Icons

You can actually resize your icons. You can actually make them smaller by going into the computer’s settings just as we did above. Select the option for ‘Personalization’ then select the option for ‘Taskbar.’ Next, toggle the switch for ‘Use small taskbar buttons.’

Customize the System Tray

If you’d like to get rid of the clock or a notification icon simply head over to your system’s Settings and click on the ‘Personalization’ option, then click on ‘Taskbar.’ Click ‘Select which icons appear in the taskbar’ and toggle off the ones you’d like to remove (or toggle on the ones you would like to see).

Hide Cortana

You can hide the Cortana Search Bar by right-clicking the taskbar and clicking on the option for ‘Search.’ From here, you’ll see the ‘Hidden’ option. Click it and Cortana will disappear from the taskbar.

Frequently Asked Questions

As we mentioned above, we’ve included more information about the Windows 10 Taskbar in this section!

How Do I Increase My Contrast on Windows 10?

• Click the “Start” button.

• Click “Settings” > “Ease of Access” > “High contrast”.

change tasks bar color

• Select the “Turn on high contrast” toggle button.

• Select a theme from the suggested options

change tasks bar color

• Select the “Turn on high contrast” toggle button again. Windows may display a “Please wait” screen between the steps. To quickly switch from the high contrast to ordinary mode, press the left Alt key + left Shift key + Print screen.

In case none of the suggested color themes are a good fit for you, Windows offers an option of creating a custom theme by varying colors of screen elements such as hyperlinks, selected text, and button text in the “Choose a theme” dropdown menu.

Why Can’t I Change the Color of My Taskbar in Windows 10?

There are several common reasons why the taskbar color fails to change. First, check whether the “Light” mode is selected. Custom accent colors are not supported in this mode, so you have to go back to the theme menu and select “Dark” or “Custom”.

The second most common reason is the wrong choice of theme. Some themes found online might be interfering with the Windows 10 taskbar color settings, resulting in wrong color codes being selected. To fix it, try choosing a custom accent color instead of an automatically picked color. If this does not help, pick a different theme and restart your PC.

The third reason is that the color filter is selected. Windows 10 allows you to set a color filter for disabled access. In case the accent color you have picked is not displaying correctly, chances are the filter is on.

Here’s how to remedy the issue:

• Click “Settings” in the “Start” menu and select “Ease of Access”.

change tasks bar color

• Click “Color filters”.

change tasks bar color

• Find “Turn on color filters” and turn off the toggle button beside it.

change tasks bar color

Finally, your display driver might need an update. To update display drivers:

• Find in the “Search” box “Device Manager” and click it.

change tasks bar color

• Find the “Display Adapters” option, click it, and find your display name.

change tasks bar color

• Right-click on the display name and select “Update driver”.

change tasks bar color

• Follow the instructions on the screen.

• Restart your PC.

Colorful Solutions

Increasing display contrast and changing the taskbar height serve a practical purpose, while changing the theme and color of the Windows 10 taskbar can truly brighten up your desktop and help it stand out. Hopefully, they are now adapted to your preference.

Choose Custom color and select the Dark option

Step 5: You can choose an accent color manually or automatically to enhance your desktop background.

An accent color is used to complement the primary color to enhance the desktop appearance. Blue is the default accent color in Windows 10.

To do it automatically, select the checkbox that says ‘Automatically pick an accent color from my background.’

Choose accent color automatically

Step 6: To choose the accent color manually, scroll down and select the Custom color option.

You can also select a color from the available color palette. However, if you want a particular shade, consider using the Custom color option.

Select Custom Color

Step 7: Pick the color of your choice from the color scheme. Click on Done after selecting the color.

Pick the color

Step 8: Now, go to the Colors tab in the left sidebar and enable the ‘Start, taskbar, and action center’ option.

Check the accent color option

Step 9: You need to restart your computer for the taskbar settings to take effect.

Once the PC is restarted, you will see your taskbar with a new color.

2. Change Theme

If you are using a third-party or custom theme, it can affect the Windows color settings of your computer. So, you might need to switch back to the default Windows theme if the default setting isn’t favorable.

Step 1: Press the Win key + I shortcut to open the Settings. Then, choose the Personalization option.

Step 2: Select Themes in the left pane and scroll down to choose the Windows theme.

Select Windows theme

Step 3: Restart the PC to let the changes take effect.

Note: If the Windows 10 taskbar color still doesn’t change after switching the theme, you need to edit the accent color settings. Once again, you need to choose the Custom color for your task bar and edit the accent color placement in the Personalization window as shown in the previous method.

3. Disable Color Filters

If you want to change taskbar color in Windows 10, you can disable the color filters.

Step 1: Open the Settings window using the Windows key + I keyboard shortcut and select Ease of Access.

Select Ease Of Access

Step 2: Choose Color filters in the left sidebar and turn off the filters by toggling the switch.

Turn off filters

After turning off the filters, check if you have the proper taskbar color you were initially looking for.

4. How To Change Taskbar Color Without Activation

Few Windows 10 users are aware that it is possible to customize the desktop screen appearance using the registry editor. In this method, you can make the Windows 10 operating system select an accent color automatically to complement the desktop background color.

Step 1: To change taskbar color in Windows 10, press the Win key + R to open the Run dialog box. Then, type ‘regedit’ in the search box and click on Ok to open the registry editor.

Open the registry editor

Step 2: Navigate to the following path given below.

Step 3: In the right pane, double-click on the ColorPrevalence option and change the Value Data field to 1.

Change the Value Data field

Step 4: Navigate to the path given below.

Step 5: In the right pane, double-click on AutoColorization and change the Value Data to 1.

Change the AutoColorization value

After doing this, close the registry editor and restart the PC to see the changes.

Final Thoughts On Change Taskbar Color In Windows 10

The taskbar is an essential aspect of the Windows 10 operating system. You can access the Start menu from the taskbar and pin the taskbar icons of frequently used applications. Users can customize multiple aspects of Windows 10, and the taskbar is one of them. You can change taskbar color in Windows 10  if you wish to; it’s not a compulsion.

The taskbar has black color by default, but if you are unsatisfied with it, there are a few ways to change the color to match your expectations. Also, users cannot set different colors for the Start menu, taskbar, and action center. The taskbar and the Start menu have the accent color, which is a secondary color used in multiple places in Windows 10.

How to Change the Taskbar Color in Windows 10

We show you how to change your taskbar color in Windows 10 without the accent applying to the rest of your system.

Ryan Maskell

Though it has a multitude of accent options, Windows has surprisingly little choice of where you can apply them. For example, the Settings app does not let you change Windows 10 taskbar color without it applying to other parts of the system.

Thankfully, while a bit unintuitive, it is possible in Windows 10 to change the color of the taskbar only. All it requires is a quick change in the registry and for you to be using the dark theme. Once complete, you should be able to easily distinguish your taskbar from other UI elements. Today, of course, we're going to show you how to perform this trick. Here's how to change taskbar color in Windows 10 but disable the accent elsewhere:

How to Change Accent Color for the Windows 10 Taskbar Only

Before we start, let's reiterate that you must be using the Windows 10 dark mode for this trick to work. Don't worry, though, we're going to show you how to switch to it as part of the process below:

In your Registry Editor search bar, paste the following or navigate there manually via the sidebar:

What to Know

  • Most of the available options are in Settings > Personalization > Taskbar . Others are in the registry.
  • Customizations include left-aligning the icons and hiding the Widgets button.

This article explains how to customize your Windows 11 taskbar to adjust where the icons are positioned, change how big the taskbar buttons are, and more.

Move Start Button & Icons to the Left

Windows 11 is the first version of Windows that places the Start menu and other icons in the center of the taskbar instead of the left. But it doesn't have to stay that way.

This is a super easy change that you can make through Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors .

Change Pinned Icons

The Start button is the only thing that has to exist on the taskbar. Everything else can be modified, meaning you can drag icons to rearrange them, hide Widgets and other default icons, and pin new icons to the taskbar.

How to Hide Default Taskbar Icons

Follow these steps to hide any of the following taskbar buttons: Search, Copilot, Task view, Widgets, or Chat.

Open Settings.

You can do this from the Power User Menu (right-click the Start button) or through a search for Settings .

Select Taskbar .

From the Taskbar items section at the top, select the toggle button next to any button you want to hide, like Task view or Chat .

How to Pin Programs to the Taskbar

You can add items to the Windows 11 taskbar for quick access to your favorite apps. But unlike older Windows versions, you can't drag and drop items to the taskbar to pin them.

Instead, there are a few other ways to do it:

  • Open the program, right-click its button in the taskbar, and select Pin to taskbar .
  • Find the program in the Start menu, right-click it, and choose Pin to taskbar .
  • Locate the program shortcut in File Explorer (like on the desktop), right-click it, and go to Show more options > Pin to taskbar .

To unpin a non-default taskbar item, right-click it and select Unpin from taskbar .

Auto-Hide the Taskbar

Windows 11 lets you hide the taskbar when you don't need it. It'll remain collapsed into the bottom of the screen until you focus on it with the mouse or trigger it open with the Windows key.

This option is called Automatically hide the taskbar . It's accessible in the taskbar settings.

Change the Taskbar Size & Color

The size of the whole taskbar can be changed, but, unfortunately, there isn't a regular, click-here-to-change option in Settings to do it. Instead, you need to go into the Windows Registry to make the change.

The taskbar color, on the other hand, is much easier to change:

Open Settings, and select Personalization from the left panel.

Choose Colors from the right.

Select Custom from the menu next to Choose your mode .

Select Dark from the menu next to Choose your default Windows mode .

Scroll down and toggle Show accent color on Start and taskbar on.

Pick a color from the Accent color area.

Show or Hide System Tray Icons

System tray icons are located by the clock on the far right side of the taskbar. You can edit this part of the taskbar if there are items visible down there that you'd rather not see, or if some icons are hidden that you do want quick access to.

There are two ways:

  • Drag-and-drop icons in and out of the overflow menu.
  • Go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar . Expand Other system tray icons , and select the button next to any item to toggle its visibility on or off.

You can't hide the network or volume icon in Windows 11.

Something else you can do related to these taskbar icons is force them to always show, but the option to do that isn't available in Settings. Instead, open the Run dialog box ( Win + R ), enter the below command, and check the box next to Always show all icons and notifications on the taskbar .

Disable 'Show Desktop' Button

This is a small button at the very far right side of the taskbar called Show desktop . If you've ever clicked it by accident, and all your open windows minimized, you might find it more of an inconvenience than a helpful feature.

Fortunately, it's super easy to disable:

Open the taskbar settings by right-clicking an empty area of the taskbar, and choosing Taskbar settings .

Expand Taskbar behaviors at the bottom of the page.

Uncheck the box next to Select the far corner of the taskbar to show the desktop .

Combine Taskbar Buttons

You can disable taskbar button grouping in Windows using Settings. Another way to ungroup taskbar icons is with a third-party program.

StartAllBack is one such program that includes this option. To ungroup taskbar buttons in Windows 11 with this program, open its Taskbar menu and change the Combine taskbar buttons option to Never . The change will take effect immediately.

This program has tons of other customizations you can apply to Windows 11. For example, you can move the taskbar to the top or side of the screen, make the icons extra large, and customize Start menu items.

Weather is one of several Widgets you can add to the Windows 11 desktop . To add it, press Win + W to open the Widgets window, and then click the plus sign next to the weather one to add it.

You can remove Widgets by first opening the Widgets window ( Win + W ), and then clicking the X next to the one you want to remove. This option is different from hiding the Widgets button in the taskbar, which you do through Settings.

You can tweak your new taskbar — somewhat

change tasks bar color

If you’ve updated your computer from Windows 10 to Windows 11, you may find that your taskbar isn’t quite as configurable — and perhaps not quite as useful — as it was before. For example, the old, familiar Start menu with its configurable Live Tiles is now gone. The search box is no longer within the taskbar but is accessed by first clicking on the Start menu — an extra step. (Although the fact that Cortana is no longer automatically part of that search box can be considered, by many at least, as a plus.)

Another thing: the taskbar is now permanently affixed to the bottom of the screen — so if you were more comfortable having it on top of the screen, or on either side, you’re out of luck.

As you might imagine, Windows users are already posting fixes for at least some of these issues — as long as you’re comfortable tweaking your Windows Registry. For example, there’s one that purportedly lets you move the taskbar to the top of the screen , and another that lets you change the size of the taskbar .

  • These apps let you customize Windows 11 to bring the taskbar back to life

It’s possible that Microsoft will bring back some of these abilities in future updates of the new OS. For now, let’s concentrate on how you can adjust the current Windows 11 taskbar.

Pin an app to the taskbar

Pinning an app to the taskbar at the bottom can be a little — well, weird. There are several ways to handle it:

  • If an app is running, its icon will appear in the taskbar with a line underneath to indicate that it is active. If you want its icon to remain in the taskbar even after you’ve closed it, then right-click on the icon and select “Pin to taskbar.”

Right click on an active icon and select “Pin to taskbar”

  • If an app isn’t running, but its icon is on your desktop, you can pin it to the Taskbar as well. Right-click on the desktop icon and click on “Show more options.” A longer menu will open up; about two-thirds down, you’ll see “Pin to taskbar.”
  • You can also click on the Start icon, select the “All apps” button, and then right-click on the app you want. If you don’t see “Pin to taskbar” in the menu that pops up, then select “More” and you’ll see “Pin to taskbar.”

You can also pin an app to your tasks from the “All apps” menu.

Remove an app from the taskbar

Most apps are simple to remove: just right-click on the icon and select “Unpin from taskbar.”

A few of the icons take a little more effort to remove. The Start menu icon is, as might be expected, unremovable. But there are four other icons that can’t be removed but can be hidden. The easiest way to do that is:

  • Right click on the taskbar.
  • Select “Taskbar settings.” (You can also get there by going to “Settings” > “Personalization” > “Taskbar.”)
  • Toggle off any of the four icons — “Search,” “Task view,” “Widgets,” or “Chat” — that you want to hide.

You can hide four of the standard taskbar icons.

Move your icons to the left

Those of us who having been using Windows 10 (or 7 or earlier iterations) are used to accessing the Start menu from the lower left-hand corner of the screen. If your muscle memory keeps your hand drifting to that corner, you can move the center app icons so they are to your left instead:

  • Right-click on the taskbar and click on “Taskbar settings.”
  • Select “Taskbar behaviors.”
  • Look for “Taskbar alignment” and click on the button on the right where it says “Center.” Select “Left” instead.
  • Close the settings window, and you’ll see that the app icons in the taskbar have moved to the left, with the Start menu icon in the corner.

You can move the icons from the center to the left of the taskbar.

Incidentally, the “Taskbar behaviors” section of the settings lets you do more than move your icons to the left. It also lets you automatically hide the taskbar (something that’s been a taskbar behavior for a very long time); show a badge on taskbar apps to let you know if, say, you have any unread messages; handle how the taskbar works on multiple displays; and show a clean desktop by clicking on the far right corner of the taskbar.

Taskbar behaviors include hiding the taskbar and showing unread messages.

Taskbar corner icons and overflow

While the taskbar corner icons and the overflow window aren’t new, I never actually knew what they were called before. To tell you the truth, when I first saw the phrase “Taskbar corner overflow,” I pictured a bunch of app icons flowing out of the display like Niagara Falls. Turns out the corner icons are the icons in the right corner of the taskbar — the ones that show the time and date, your battery status, your volume level, and your Wi-Fi status, among other things. The overflow is the little pop-up menu that appears when you select the arrow to the left of those corner icons.

For the most part, the icons in the overflow window are meant to notify you when there is something that needs to be done — messages that have arrived or an update that is needed. This is also handy for apps, like Discord, that tend to run in the background; you can shut them down easily from the overflow by right-clicking on the icon and looking for the “quit” selection.

While most of the corner icons that come with Windows are permanent, some — specifically, the Pen menu, the Touch keyboard, and the Virtual touchpad — can be hidden. They can be found on the same taskbar settings menu that let us move the icons to the left; just click on “Taskbar corner overflow” and toggle off the ones you don’t want to see.

The overflow menu lets you handle apps that run in the background.

Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22621.3073 and 22631.3073

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

Known issues in this update

Microsoft is not currently aware of any issues with this update.

How to get this update

Before installing this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates  and  Servicing Stack Updates (SSU): Frequently Asked Questions .

Install this update

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages .

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer ( wusa.exe ) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

Copilot

If you've been irritated by the positioning of the Copilot button in Windows 11, the newly released KB5034765 update is for you.

This month’s patch for Windows 11 not only boosts security and fixes numerous bugs, it also sees the button for accessing Microsoft's AI-powered assistant moving. It effectively replaces the "show desktop" button in the taskbar.

  • Microsoft is improving the look of gaming with AI Super Resolution in Windows 11 24H2

Microsoft says of the Copilot tweak: "The Copilot in Windows icon now appears on the right side of the system tray on the taskbar. Also, the display of  Show desktop  at the rightmost corner of the taskbar will be off by default. To turn it back on, go to  Settings  >  Personalization  >  Taskbar . You can alsoright-click the taskbar and choose  Taskbar settings ".

Other notable changes in this security update include fixing slow Narrator announcements, and it addresses an explorer.exe crash. Microsoft also says that it addresses an issue that affects the download of device metadata, so downloads from the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) over HTTPS are now more secure.

The company points that the KB5034765 update also includes all of the changes from the previously released KB5034204 update, namely:

  • This update addresses an issue that affects certain types of 7-Zip files. They appear as empty in File Explorer.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Wi-Fi Protected Access 3 (WPA3) in the Group Policy editor. HTML preview rendering fails.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI). A caching issue occurs. The issue causes  CurrentTimeZone  to change to the wrong value.
  • This update makes Windows more reliable during power transitions. This reduces the risk of a stop error.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects the OpenType font driver. On a certain architecture, the issue might affect how text renders for third-party applications.
  • The update addresses a known issue that affects the color font format for COLRv1. It now renders properly. Windows uses this format to display emoji with a 3D-like appearance.
  • This update addresses an issue that stops WMI from working. This occurs in certain scenarios with mobile device management (MDM) providers, such as Microsoft Intune.
  • This update addresses a known issue that affects BitLocker data-only encryption. A mobile device management (MDM) service, such as Microsoft Intune, might not get the right data. This occurs when you use the FixedDrivesEncryptionType or SystemDrivesEncryptionType policy settings in the BitLocker configuration service provider (CSP) node.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Access Point Name (APN) profiles. It stops you from automatically configuring APN profiles for cellular enabled devices. This occurs when you run the “netsh mbn show readyinfo *” command.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Trusted Platform Modules (TPM). On certain devices, they did not initialize correctly. Because of this, TPM-based scenarios stopped working.
  • This update includes quarterly changes to the Windows Kernel Vulnerable Driver Blocklist file,  DriverSiPolicy.p7b . It adds to the list of drivers that are at risk for Bring Your Own Vulnerable Driver (BYOVD) attacks.
  • This update affects Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) Secure Boot systems. It adds a renewed signing certificate to the Secure Boot DB variable. You can now opt for this change.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects RemoteApp windows. In certain cases, they persist on client devices after you close them.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects a remote desktop client. It might connect to a wrong instance of a user's session. This occurs if a user has multiple sessions on the host.
  • This update addresses an issue that occurs when you change the keyboard language. The change fails to apply to RemoteApps in some scenarios.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Windows Local Administrator Password Solution (LAPS) Post Authentication Actions (PAA). The actions occur at restart instead of at the end of the grace period.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Active Directory. Bind requests to IPv6 addresses fail. This occurs when the requestor is not joined to a domain.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects the LocalUsersAndGroups CSP. It stops processing group memberships if it cannot find a group.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects Group Policy Folder Redirection in a multi-forest deployment. The issue stops you from choosing a group account from the target domain. Because of this, you cannot apply advanced folder redirection settings to that domain. This issue occurs when the target domain has a one-way trust with the domain of the admin user. This issue affects all Enhanced Security Admin Environment (ESAE), Hardened Forests (HF) or Privileged Access Management (PAM) deployments.
  • This update changes a setting in Active Directory Users & Computers. By default, the snap-in now uses a strong certificate mapping of X509IssuerSerialNumber. It does not use the weak mapping of x509IssuerSubject.
  • This update addresses an issue that affects the display of a smart card icon. The icon does not appear when you sign in. This occurs when there are multiple certificates on the smart card.
  • This update addresses an issue that causes your device to shut down after 60 seconds. This occurs when you use a smart card to authenticate on a remote system.

You can download the update using Windows Update, or by visiting the  Microsoft Update Catalog .

With the latest Snapdragon CPU, display, and camera improvements, refined design, class-leading software support, and useful AI tools in the built-in apps, there is a lot to like about Samsung's flagship trio for 2024. While the South Korean giant has nailed the hardware on the Galaxy S24 series, the default One UI 6.1 settings may irritate some.

  • Authenticate yourself.

Introduction

In a previous article, I wrote about how to change the background color of cards in the Gallery View . In this article, I will show you how to change the background color of cards in the Board View. By changing the background color of certain cards to make them stand out, or by changing the background color of each classification, you can easily distinguish between cards.

The following describes how to change the background color of cards in the Board View of Microsoft Lists in advanced mode (formatting by coding).

Open the Board view

Select on the name of the view displayed on the command bar > Select Format current view

Select Edit card

Sort and show/hide content

Select Advance mode

Edit the JSON

If you want to set the background color of the cards by HTML color code or color name, add the following code to the div containing the sp-card-subContainer class (between lines 14 and 15).

Sample Code: To set the background color to pink for cards with Priority “High” and #87cefa for cards with Priority “Normal”:

If you want to change the background color of the card using the predefined CSS classes , change the class value (line 13) of the div containing the sp-card-subContainer class as the following.

Sample Code: To set sp-css-backgroundColor-BgGold for the CSS of cards with Priority “High” and ms-bgColor-white for the other cards:

Select Preview to see if the background color of the cards has changed

Select Save

This completes the background color change of the cards!

If you want to fix the JSON, select the name of the view displayed in the command bar, then select Format current view again.

Additional notes

If you want to use a column value as a condition, the column does not have to be visible on the card, but it must be included in the view. You can see which columns are included in a view by clicking on Add or remove fields .

To use a column value as a condition, write something like [$FieldName] , where FieldName should be set to the internal name of the column, not the display name of the column. The internal name of the column can be found in the URL of the Edit Column screen.

You can find a list and preview of the predefined CSS classes at SharePoint Online CSS Classes (created by Denis Molodtsov ). Also, you can view samples using the predefined CSS classes at List Formatting Samples (created by Chris Kent ).
